This week’s reading- Galatians 3-4
In Galatians chapters 3 and 4 Paul makes some bold claims about who we are when we have accepted Christ as our savior. I don’t know about you, but there are days when I tend to forget about all I have available to me as one of God’s children. I can feel overwhelmed by life’s circumstances, but our reading this week reminds me of the richness of our inheritance.
Read Galatians 4:6-7 a few times and let the truths of it settle in for you today:
“Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father. So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.”
God’s goodness to us is evident as we read that He is the one who sent the Spirit of his son into our hearts. It is the Holy Spirit living in us who calls out “Abba, Father.” There is a divine connection between the trinity that we are a part of because of Jesus’ sacrifice.
You were never meant to do life on your own.
You were not set up to strive each day for perfection, like someone who lives under the law.
But you were made for a relationship with God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
“We were in slavery under the elemental spiritual forces of the world,” (Galatians 4:3) but now we have been set free through Jesus.
Take a moment to breathe, slow down your thoughts and pray:
Father God, help me to live as I am free in Christ and not enslaved by my sin.
In particular, I ask for help with ________ today.
Give me a new heart and let me rely on you.
I thank you for the gift of a relationship with you.
In Jesus name.
