Route 56

Starting June 23rd, our rising 6th graders will no longer attend Children’s Ministry on Sunday mornings. They are invited to join Student Ministry Sunday evenings from 5:45-7:45. For their first few weeks in Student Ministry, rising 6th graders will participate in a transition program we call Route 56. During this time, we help our students get to know each other better and teach them a few things they can do every day that will help them know God better. We do this through games, lessons, worship, devotions, fun, and of course – food!

On Sunday nights, your rising 6th grader will be with 6th – 12th grade students at the beginning of the evening when we play large group games like 9 Square and Gaga Ball. Then, they will break off into their own Route 56 program for the rest of the evening. Starting August 18th, they will attend our Sunday night program for all 6th-12th graders, which we call Takeover, from 5:45-7:45.]

If your child will be attending Route 56, please register by June 17th so we can prepare. There is a $5 fee for the devotional book they will use during these first five weeks that you can pay for during registration.

Here is the schedule for the first weeks.

  • June 16: No Route 56 this night – Rising 6th grade students will attend Children’s Ministry on Sunday morning with our rising 4th and 5th graders, and will have a special small group time.
  • June 23: Route 56 – We’ll start the night with bagel bite pizzas and 9 square before heading up to our special Route 56 meeting.
  • June 30: Route 56 -We’ll snack on rice krispies and cookies, play knocker ball outside, and then head upstairs for Route 56.
  • July 7: No Route 56 this night
  • July 14: Route 56 – Mini golf and pop tarts, followed by Route 56.
  • July 21: Route 56 – 9 square and  chicken nuggets , followed by Route 56.

  • August 18: Rising 6th graders will join the rest of our middle and high school students for Takeover, our Sunday night Student Ministry program.

Please note, that attendance of all weeks is not required to attend. We know that summer is busy. It is our desire that as many rising 6th graders attend Route 56 as possible, even if they can only make a few weeks.
