August 3: Weekly Focus

August – Service

Service is the practice of putting love into action by meeting the needs of others. It reflects the heart of Jesus, who came not to be served but to serve. Through service we learn humility, compassion, and the joy of giving ourselves for the good of others. This month we focus on service as a way of living out God’s love in everyday life.

Week of August 3- Week 31

Reading:

³⁴Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world. ³⁵For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home. ³⁶I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ Matthew 25:34–36 (NLT)

Jesus teaches that serving others is the same as serving Him. Service connects us directly to God’s heart for people.

Why this matters for life today:

Jesus showed that greatness is found in serving, not being served. In a world focused on status and recognition, choosing to serve shifts our priorities and makes us more like Him.
