July 27: Weekly Focus
July – Submission
Submission is the practice of yielding our will to God and placing the needs of others before our own. It is not about weakness but about trusting God’s authority and choosing humility. Through submission, we learn to follow Jesus’ example of obedience, letting go of pride and control. This month we focus on submission as a path to freedom, peace, and deeper love for God and others.
Week of July 27- Week 30
Reading:
⁷So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. ⁸Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:7–8 (NLT)
Submission is active. As we humble ourselves before God, we resist the devil and draw closer to Him. Submission brings power and protection.

2. How does submission help you resist temptation?

4. How might divided loyalty show up in your life?
5. What encourages you most about God’s promise to come close to you?
Why this matters for life today:
Submission also shows up in how we treat others. Choosing humility in relationships goes against the grain, but it leads to stronger connections. When we put others first, we reflect the heart of Jesus in everyday life.
Take it Deeper:
- We find ultimate protection when we rest in God’s presence. It is comforting to remember God’s power and faithfulness.

- True life comes through submission to our heavenly Father.
