June – Solitude

Solitude is the practice of stepping away from noise and busyness to be alone with God. It is not about escaping responsibilities but about creating space to hear His voice more clearly. In solitude, we remember that God is enough and that our worth comes from Him, not from what we do or what others think. This month we focus on solitude as a way of drawing near to God in quiet trust and dependence.

Week of June 1- Week 22

Reading:

35Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. 36Later Simon and the others went out to find him. 37When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.” 38But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.” 39So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons. Mark 1:35–39 (NLT)

Jesus made time to withdraw from the crowds to be with His Father. Solitude was central to His strength and direction.

Reflection Questions:

1.    What do you notice about Jesus’ rhythm of solitude and ministry?

2.    How can solitude help you hear God’s direction more clearly?

3.    What makes it difficult for you to step away for time with God?

4.    How might solitude strengthen you for serving others?

5.    What small step can you take this week to create space for solitude?

Why this matters for life today:

Life is noisy and full of demands. Even Jesus pulled away from the crowds to spend time alone with God. Solitude gives us room to breathe, to think clearly, and to remember what matters most.

Take it Deeper:

  • When we quiet our souls to earthly desires and focus on God, we find true peace.
