October 26: Weekly Focus

October – Confession
Confession is the practice of honestly bringing our sins before God and, at times, before trusted believers. It is not about shame, but about freedom. When we confess, we agree with God about what is true and open the door to His forgiveness and healing. This month we focus on confession as a way to experience grace, restore relationships, and live in the light of God’s mercy.
Week of October 26- Week 43
Reading:
13People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13 (NLT)
Mercy comes through confession and turning away from sin. Concealing sin keeps us stuck, but confession leads to freedom.
Reflection Questions:
1. What does this verse teach about the danger of concealing sin?
2. How does confession open the way for God’s mercy?
3. What does it mean to turn from sin after confession?
4. How have you experienced mercy through confession?
5. What is one step of turning from sin that you can take this week?
Why this matters for life today:
Confession is not just private; it is also powerful in community. When we share honestly with trusted people, we find accountability, encouragement, and support. This kind of openness builds stronger relationships and deeper faith.
Take it Deeper:
- God is merciful and ready to forgive those who repent.
17But you are a forgiving God, gracious and merciful, slow to become angry, and rich in unfailing love. You did not abandon them. Nehemiah 9:17b (NLT)
- Repentance brings us back to life and refreshment in the Lord.
28Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. 29He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. 30What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Psalm 107:28–30 (NLT)
