September – Guidance

Guidance is the practice of seeking and following the direction of God through His Word, prayer, and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. It also involves learning from the counsel of wise believers who walk closely with God. When we trust God’s guidance, He leads us in paths of peace, purpose, and truth. This month we focus on living with open hearts that listen for God’s voice and follow His leading.

Week of September 21- Week 38

Reading:

17But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere. James 3:17 (NLT)

God’s guidance is marked by wisdom that is pure, peaceful, gentle, merciful, and sincere. True guidance reflects His character.

Reflection Questions:

1.    What stands out to you about God’s wisdom in this passage?

2.    How does this wisdom compare with the advice the world offers?

3.    How can you tell if guidance is truly from God?

4.    What role does humility play in receiving guidance?

5.    What is one way you can seek God’s wisdom in a current decision?

Why this matters for life today:

We do not have to figure out life alone. God gives His Spirit to lead us into truth and wisdom. When we listen, we find direction that aligns with His heart and brings freedom.

Take it Deeper:

  • God says we only need to ask Him for wisdom, and He will give it.

5If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5 (NLT)

  • Asking God to direct our steps keeps us from sin and compromise.

133Guide my steps by your word, so I will not be overcome by evil. Psalm 119:133 (NLT)
