September 7: Weekly Focus

September – Guidance
Guidance is the practice of seeking and following the direction of God through His Word, prayer, and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit. It also involves learning from the counsel of wise believers who walk closely with God. When we trust God’s guidance, He leads us in paths of peace, purpose, and truth. This month we focus on living with open hearts that listen for God’s voice and follow His leading.
Week of September 7- Week 36
Reading:
5Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5–6 (NLT)
God’s guidance comes as we trust Him fully and lean on His wisdom. When we seek His will, He makes our path clear.
Reflection Questions:
1. How does trusting God change the way you make decisions?
2. What does it mean to not lean on your own understanding?
3. Where in your life do you need God’s direction most right now?
4. How does God show you which path to take?
5. What step can you take this week to seek God’s guidance more intentionally?
Why this matters for life today:
Life is full of choices, and it is easy to rely only on our own thinking. Guidance from God helps us see beyond the moment and trust that He knows the best path forward.
Take it Deeper:
- Trusting the Word brings clarity to our path–one step at a time.
105Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
- God teaches and leads those who wait for Him with trust.
4Show me the right path, O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. 5Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:4–5 (NLT)
